BMS Bureau Engineer Location: Colchester (Bureau-based with occasional site visits) Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + 33 Days’ Holiday (including bank holidays), Pension Scheme, Training & Progression Opportunities (including Trend courses), Employee Discounts & More About the Role My client is seeking an experienced BMS Bureau Engineer with strong capabilities in Trend systems to join their growing technical team. This role is primarily bureau-based, monitoring and optimising building performance remotely, with occasional visits to sites for complex diagnostics, commissioning, or system verification. You’ll play a pivotal part in ensuring our clients’ buildings run efficiently, sustainably, and reliably. Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyse Trend BMS systems (Trend 963, IQ Vision, IQ Engineering) to identify alarms, faults, and energy-saving opportunities. Carry out remote fault diagnosis, optimisation works, and commissioning adjustments. Attend occasional site visits for in-depth troubleshooting, validation, and maintenance tasks. Produce clear system reports, performance summaries, and recommendations for clients. Work collaboratively with on-site engineers, FM teams, and stakeholders to resolve issues and implement improvements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Trend platforms, software releases, and BMS best practices. Support energy efficiency strategies through data-led insights and optimisation. Skills & Experience Required Essential: Practical experience working with Trend BMS (Trend 963, IQ Vision, IQ Engineering). Strong diagnostic ability (remote and on-site). Ability to analyse system data and identify optimisation opportunities. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to manage multiple systems and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Full UK driving licence (for occasional site visits). Desirable: Trend engineering certification. Understanding of other BMS systems or protocols (e.g., BACnet). Electrical or controls engineering qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC etc.).
