Purchasing Administrator / Buyer

Location: Hixon plus Hybrid Working (Site-Based During Training, Then Home-Based with Occasional Site Attendance)
Salary: £14.00–£14.25 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:15pm (some flexibility available)
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Administrator / Buyer to join our Purchasing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchasing or supply chain experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment, who enjoys building supplier relationships, managing priorities, and ensuring materials are available to support production requirements.

Following an initial site-based training period, the role will offer a hybrid working arrangement with home working available and site attendance required as needed.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage a portfolio of materials and suppliers.

* Respond to material shortages and exception messages in line with production demand.

* Raise purchase orders and expedite overdue deliveries.

* Obtain supplier quotations and support benchmarking and negotiation activities.

* Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure smooth supply chain operations.

* Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within company systems.

* Process internal requests for consumables and miscellaneous items.

* Provide general administrative support to the Purchasing team.

* Assist in resolving supply-related issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Previous experience within a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role.

* Manufacturing industry experience (preferred).

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Excellent numerical skills and a high level of attention to detail.

* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

* The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.

* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.

* Confidence when dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

* The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable

* CIPS qualification or currently studying towards CIPS.

* Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
