Desktop Engineer
2nd Line Desktop Engineer (Contract) Location: Cheltenham (On-site, full-time) Rate: Up to £250 per day (Inside IR35) Contract: 3 months Our client, a leading organisation in their sector, is hiring a 2nd Line Desktop Engineer to provide on-site technical support and break-fix services across a busy operational environment. This role offers the opportunity to work in a hands-on support capacity, resolving issues directly with end users and ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. What you’ll do * Provide 2nd line desktop support across hardware and software environments * Deliver break-fix support for laptops, desktops, and peripheral devices * Support Microsoft 365 applications and user administration * Assist with basic networking issues (connectivity, patching, troubleshooting) * Support hybrid environments, including on-prem and cloud-based systems You’ll work closely with IT support teams and business users to maintain high service levels and resolve incidents efficiently. What we’re looking for * Proven experience in a 2nd line desktop support role * Strong break-fix and on-site troubleshooting experience * Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 * Basic networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, patching, connectivity) * Experience supporting hybrid environments The ideal candidate will bring a proactive, customer-focused approach and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, fully on-site environment.
