Estimator – Groundworks

Job Title: Estimator – Groundworks Location: Hertfordshire Salary: £50,000 – £75,000 (Dependent on Experience) Package: Open to discussion About the Role We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in groundworks and civil engineering to join our growing team based in Hertfordshire. Key Responsibilities * Preparing accurate cost estimates for groundworks and associated civil engineering projects * Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation * Carrying out take-offs and producing detailed Bills of Quantities * Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations * Identifying risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions * Preparing and submitting competitive tenders within deadlines * Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal project teams * Attending pre- and post-tender meetings as required Requirements * Proven experience as an Estimator within groundworks and/or civil engineering * Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications * Excellent numerical and commercial awareness * Strong negotiation and communication skills * Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office * Full UK driving licence What’s on Offer * Competitive salary (£50k–£75k depending on experience) * Package open for discussion (car allowance, bonus, pension, etc.) * Long-term career progression opportunities * Supportive and collaborative working environment * Exposure to a varied portfolio of projects
