Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work in a specialist secondary provision in North London that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people who require additional guidance, structure, and encouragement to succeed both academically and personally. The Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students aged 11-16 who may present with a range of needs including SEMH, behavioural challenges, ADHD, and autism. You will play a key role in helping students regulate their emotions, engage in learning, and develop positive relationships within the school environment. Key responsibilities include: Providing 1:1 and small group support to students in and out of the classroom Supporting students with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies Helping pupils remain engaged with learning activities and classroom routines Building positive and consistent relationships with students to promote trust and stability Supporting teachers with classroom management and differentiated activities Encouraging independence, confidence, and resilience in learners The Ideal Candidate Experience working with children or young people, particularly in education, youth work, or care settings A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting students with additional needs Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to remain consistent and supportive when managing challenging behaviour A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs Previous experience working in a special school, PRU, SEMH setting, or alternative provision would be highly advantageous, but candidates with relevant transferable experience are also encouraged to apply.
