The Metal Polisher is responsible for improving the appearance and surface finish of metal components to meet required specifications. This is a hands-on role involving the use of manual polishing machines and abrasives to remove defects and achieve high-quality finishes, including mirror and brushed finishes.
The role requires attention to detail, strong practical skills, and the ability to consistently deliver high standards of workmanship across a variety of materials.
Key Responsibilities
* Polish brass, aluminium, and stainless-steel components to high-quality finishes
* Operate a range of manual polishing machines and spindles
* Use a tube centreless machine to achieve required surface finishes
* Remove surface defects such as scratches, dents, and imperfections
* Select and use appropriate abrasive belts and materials based on component requirements
* Achieve a variety of finishes, including mirror and brushed finishes
* Inspect components to ensure they meet required quality standards
* Liaise with the Machine Shop Manager to ensure work is completed on time
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including equipment upkeep
* Follow all health and safety procedures when operating machinery
Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a metal polishing or similar role
* Strong attention to detail with experience in product inspection
* Experience working within production environments
* Knowledge of polishing processes, including evaluation and improvement techniques
* Ability to follow detailed component specifications
* Good communication skills across all levels
* Ability to work independently and use initiative
