Radar Analyst
About the opportunity
This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation and an appetite for learning. Whether you already have radar experience or come from a related field like DSP, sonar, or communications, we’re open to candidates who are eager to develop and grow.
We’re looking for a Radar Systems Engineer for a hands-on, technically challenging role where you’ll work at the intersection of signal processing, mathematical modelling, and real-world system performance.
You’ll play a key role in designing and improving radar systems, working closely with internal engineering teams and external partners to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Develop mathematical models of radar systems and sub-systems using MATLAB and Simulink
* Design and implement digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms to enhance radar performance
* Analyse radar performance data, including trial results, and produce technical reports
* Support hardware and software validation, working closely with FPGA and development teams
* Provide technical input and specifications for system design and development
* Investigate and resolve real-world performance issues in deployed systems
* Research and develop new algorithms and radar concepts
* Collaborate with suppliers to ensure system performance requirements are met
* Prepare and present technical material to internal stakeholders and external customers
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
* Degree (BSc/MSc) in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline
* Experience with MATLAB and digital signal processing
* Knowledge of radar or related domains (e.g. sonar, communications, image processing)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to deliver technical work to deadlines
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset
Desirable Skills
* Experience with radar techniques such as Pulse Compression, Doppler Filtering, CFAR
* Knowledge of radar signal/image processing, tracking, or phased array systems
* Exposure to FPGA, embedded systems, or Linux environments
* Understanding of RF systems, antennas, or radar electronics
* Experience with Python, C/C++, or other programming languages
* Familiarity with version control (Git) and issue tracking tools (e.g. JIRA)
