School Caretaker- Walsall

We are currently recruiting for an experienced School Caretaker to join a busy school site in Walsall. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive and reliable individual who can take full responsibility for the maintenance, security, and general upkeep of the premises. This position is suited to candidates who are confident working independently and can hit the ground running in a fast-paced school environment. Key Responsibilities Opening and closing the school site daily, ensuring security procedures are followed Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks Ensuring the school grounds are clean, safe, and well-maintained Conducting regular health & safety checks and reporting hazards Managing site security, including alarms and access control Supporting with room setups for events and school activities Liaising with contractors and monitoring work on site Basic plumbing, electrical, and joinery tasks where required Requirements Proven experience working as a caretaker, site supervisor, or facilities assistant (ideally within a school environment) Strong knowledge of health & safety procedures Ability to carry out general maintenance and repairs independently Reliable, punctual, and able to manage workload effectively Good communication skills and a professional approach Must be able to start immediately and work without supervision Important Information No training will be provided - candidates must be experienced and job-ready An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred If you do not currently hold an Enhanced DBS, you will be required to apply and pay for one How to Apply If you are an experienced caretaker looking for your next opportunity in a school setting, please apply with your CV today.
