Structural Steel Designer Colchester Area (On-site) £40,000 - £45,000 per year Full-time, Permanent We are currently recruiting for an experienced Structural Steel Designer to join a well-established steel fabrication and engineering business based in the Colchester area. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of architectural and structural steelwork projects, supporting the design process from concept through to fabrication. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate 3D models and detailed technical drawings using Autodesk Advance Steel, working closely with engineers, project managers and the fabrication team to ensure designs are suitable for manufacture and meet project specifications. Key Responsibilities Produce detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings using Autodesk Advance Steel Prepare general arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings and material schedules Interpret architectural and structural drawings and convert them into fabrication-ready models Work closely with project managers, engineers and fabrication teams to ensure designs are accurate and practical Assist in resolving design and detailing queries throughout project delivery Ensure drawings meet project specifications, quality standards and fabrication requirementsRequirements Minimum 3 years' experience using Autodesk Advance Steel Experience working within architectural steelwork or structural steel design Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical drawings Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team Ability to manage workload and meet project deadlines Ability to commute to the Colchester areaDesirable Experience Experience in façade design or architectural metalwork Experience working on structural steelwork projectsSalary and Benefits £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience Full-time permanent position Opportunity to work on varied architectural and structural steel projects Long-term opportunity within a growing and established businessThis role would suit a Structural Steel Designer, Steel Detailer, Advance Steel Designer or CAD Designer with experience in architectural or structural steelwork.
